RESP News: Québec Education Savings Incentive (QESI)
As you may know QESI is a program made available to RESP beneficiaries that reside in Quebec. The incentive, initially announced with the 2007 Quebec provincial budget, consists of a basic grant of up to $250 that is paid directly into a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) opened with a financial institution that offers the QESI. Dependent on family income, up to an additional $50.00 per year can be added to the basic grant amount.

Mackenzie is committed to offer the Québec Education Savings Incentive (QESI) to our Quebec clients. We are currently in the process of developing the ability to apply for the grant in the third quarter of 2010, and anticipate being ready to allocate this grant in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Revenu Québec has allowed a three-year period to RESP promoters to apply for grant money retroactively and we intend to apply for all the grants starting with 2007 grants, once our system enhancements are completed. By doing so eligible clients will receive any applicable grant available since the program was initially introduced.

More information on the QESI itself is available at the link below. We will continue to provide updates to our site with developments as they occur.
